Merry Cobler

Here’s a tune and some information from Laurel!

‘It comes from the 1798 manuscript of Joshua Jackson, who was a cornmiller and musician from Stainley, North Yorkshire. Jackson lived 1763-1839, on the edge of the industrial village of Burton Leonard. He rented a cornmill on the Stainley Hall estate. His manuscript is a 150 page book containing more than 500 handwritten tunes, songs and dances.  The only change I have made from the printed version is: bar 4: I changed DED-quavers to DD-crotchet quaver I added the first time bar on the A part with a run up.’
